Welcome to the Forest of Dean for the 661 Mini Downhill race.
Sunday 28th February 2010
NEW 10 & 11 Year old and want to race downhill?
The minimum age for DH in the UK is 12 years old but we are always getting asked by parents “their son is 11 year’s old and really wants to start racing.
Great news is Mini Downhill’s are the only races approved by British Cycling to have 10 & 11 year old kids racing downhill. we made the “Rippers” age category just for them, so tell you’re little brother to get his bike out and he can start racing.
See the Dirt TV film from the race in January 2010 Dirtmag
The forest has a long list of famous riders who started riding here back in the day.
Its now a breeding ground for local new talent that will surprise quite a few with their race times.
Lots of good tracks have sprung up over the last few years but you get to race on the best of these. Its a good mix from swooping corners, roots & rocks sections but everyone will have fun riding.
Check out report in the Next issue of Dirt Magazine ![]()
This makes the racing really intense where every single second counts.
Riders will be competing against the clock to get the fastest time.
Two timed runs the winner is the rider with fastest time.

I believe you can collect either sat or sunday, no worries.
Your bike will be fine. last year I saw guys going down the hill on DJ bikes with street tyres…
In the december race a guy on a hardtail came second in the seniors. crazy fast. so yeah don’t worry as long as your tyres are knobbly go for it.

You need a mountain bike to race, Dh tires will be ideal.
You can ride the track on Saturday and collect your number board for the race if you want to.
Or you can just collect it on Sunday morning.

Are you going to get rid of the pointless little bump before the last jump? because all it does is make you lose all of your speed and no one wants it to be there.
Chris Roberts

It was changed a few days ago by the DTV who have also made a new berm and table on the track.

No Dan, the races are just for fun.
You can get ranking points at the Caersws Cup with the first round on March 7th. http://www.caerswscup.co.uk

So would you just go up to the people who are running the number collecting on Saturday and say, my son is entering the race tomorrow so could i please have a free parking ticket for tomorrow. also if you book it online do you still go on Saturday to collect it? I presume that they will have you booked down and they will give it you there but you dont pay there because they take the mony out of your bank.

Chris, do you know if the race will still be on next Sunday because yesterday i went to go to the pedalabikeaway center but we could not get there because of some snow and deep fog! and today it is even worse. Me and my dad got as far a Littledean but could not go further as we have come from Cheltenham even though that is not that far. Please reply and hope the snow dose not stop the race!
Chris Roberts
